Want-a-site web design is delighted to announce the launch of a new jewellery site that gives the customer the ability to personlise their chosen jewellery and create a unique item of their very own design.

iDesignJewellery.co.uk is the brainchild of the talented Jewellery Designer Hannah Scane. Whilst Hannahs site showcases many of her own beautiful, completed jewellery pieces for purchase, the iDesign section includes the ablity to combine a selection of colours and gems to create a one off piece that Hannah then individually creates to order.

The on-line jewellery market may be very crowded, but if Hannahs outstanding jewellery skills weren't enough to lift iDesignJewellery.co.uk above the competition, the opportunity to have a necklace, bracelet or earring set hand-crafted to your own specifications by a talented designer certainly is!

In order to incorporate the design facility it was neccesary to go beyond the usual product options sytem within the standard shopping cart site. Hannah offers a range of different styles in each of the main Jewellery item categories, so each of these had to be previewed in the product area. This was achieved by the use of standard html added directly to the product description section.

The high quality product images were optimized for web use and loaded directly to the images folder on the site using ftp. The downside of this is hat the site owner is cant update these particular pages without some html and ftp knowledge, but the alternative multiple images system didnt give the ability to create a stylish presentation in keeping with the rest of the site. A lightbox effect is used to replace the clunky pop-up boxes for close-up previews

To choose between the available styles a drop down selector box is included beneath the product previews.

Below this comes the design area where the client can preview the various gems and pearls that can be added to any one of the jewelery styles. clicking on a thumbnail of a crystal, for example, changes the larger image to the right of the thumbs to show the option in greater detail. When the customer has made their colour and gem combination choice, traditional drop down selector boxes are again used to add their choice to the final order.

The shopping cart details all of he product options selected.

Hannah also supplies stylish presentation boxes to fit each of the designs, and these are promoted on the site using a cross sell system.

The huge advantge of this system is that it gives customers the chance to colour co-ordinate a complete jewellery set, or just one item in the range to suit any occassion or outfit style. This is particularly useful for brides to be choosing their wedding jewellery to a strict colour scheme. With iDesignJewellery a customer can be sure that all the items they want in a certain colour combination will be available, as Hannah makes each one to order.

The site also includes a birthstone colour chart guide for customers wishing to choose their design elements for a special anniversary.

To clarify the system, a jewellery design guide is also included.

The site is not a stand-alone internet commerce venture as Hannah also runs jewellery parties in the real world. Any retailer would be well advised to follow her lead in bolstering web sales, and promoting the site with such hands on methods.

Having said that, Hannah has also made an interesting leap of imagination with her virtual jewellery parties idea, which combines the traditional jewellery party wit the site itself!

Anyone with an interest in high quality hand made jewellery would do well to invest in one of Hannahs pieces. It is unlikely that jewellery by this talented artist will remain available at these prices once her start begins to rise!
